What is
E-Invoicing?

What is E-Invoicing?

E-invoicing, or electronic invoicing, is the process of sending and receiving invoices in an electronic format, rather than on paper. This involves the exchange of invoice data in a structured, machine-readable format, such as XML or JSON, instead of sending a PDF or a physical paper invoice. E-invoicing can be done through various methods, such as using a web portal, email, or an electronic data interchange (EDI) system. It can also involve the use of software or platforms that automate the creation and processing of invoices.

Why are businesses adopting E-Invoicing?

E-invoicing offers significant benefits to businesses, including cost savings, efficiency, improved cash flow, regulatory compliance, and environmental sustainability. As such, businesses are adopting e-invoicing as a way to become more competitive, streamline their operations, reduce their carbon footprint, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Regulatory Compliance

Many countries are now mandating the use of e-invoicing as a way to improve tax compliance and reduce fraud. Companies with a global presence must consider these evolving regulations to continue their business in regions that they have a local presence

Increased Efficiency

E-invoicing streamlines the invoicing process, eliminating the need for manual data entry, reducing errors, and saving time. It also reduces the time needed to process payments, resulting in faster payment cycles.

Improved Accuracy

E-invoicing reduces the risk of errors that can occur with manual data entry or paper-based invoicing. This can help to improve accuracy and reduce disputes and delays.

Better Cash Flow Management

With e-invoicing, businesses can receive payments faster and more efficiently, which can improve cash flow management.

Environmental Sustainability

The move towards e-invoicing supports environmental sustainability by reducing the use of paper and minimizing the carbon footprint associated with paper-based invoicing.

How is Zuora supporting E-Invoicing?

To support customers looking to maximize efficiency and comply with regional regulations, Zuora has introduced support for e-invoicing both through partners with local presence as well as electronic data extract in a standard format.

Zuora will offer direct integration with tax partners, to support electronic invoicing to guarantee compliance with local invoice regulations.

For countries that are not supported by our partners or in simple use cases where integration can be done natively, we have out of the box support to export data via XML PEPPOL (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) v3.0 standard format. Once the data is in XML format, it can then be easily transformed into other electronic formats as required.
